Bad:
- The 160GB PS3 coming out around October 2008 time, so you might as well wait for that, not long now
- No backwards compatibility with Sony PlayStation 2 Console games. You have your PS2 for that, right?
- Only has two USBs
- No SACD support
- No flash card readers
- No ethernet cable
- No HDMI cable. You will need this to output HD video. This is an absolute must for the PS3 Consoles You can get one for about �3. Don't let the higher prices fool you.
- 50% of my MP3s do not play. I think it can't play ID3v2 tagged MP3s, but Sony has to fix this with a future firmware update.
- Gets scratches easily, even with some fabric
- Produces a lot of heat, so make sure it's not stored in a closed space e.g. cupboard. Needs to be well ventilated
- Attracts a lot of dust, this gets very annoying sometimes.

Sony supports an additional operating system (OS) on all of it's PS3 consoles.
Not only do you get the Sony OS to play games, surf the web, play video's and music but you can install a Linux OS so that you can use the console as a PC.
A lot of people had issues in the past installing a Linux OS and to be fair it was a little tricky. I've just installed Yellow Dog Linux (YDL) and not only is it easy to install but it's free to download and use. Yup, I did say free, as in free.
I reckon you can't go wrong with the PS3 Console, free online play and 2 OS's in one box. Is there any other choice.
If you use a Windows PC or a Mac then getting round YDL is easy and you'll pick it up quickly.

1) Download game demos from PS3 consoles web site, so if your not that into games you can try out loads without the need to ever buy any of them.
2) It has an internet browser built in so you can use it on your TV to browse the internet, tweaking the settings you can get wide screen browser which looks great on a large LCD TV. Note though it is not a full browser - you cant download plugins such as realplayer so you cant use it to watch bbc programs.
3) It plays mp3s - either from the harddrive (you copy from your network) or I plugged in my external hard disk and you can browse to them to play them. I think it also rips audio cds to mp3/atrac as I saw an option for this though I have not tried it.
4) It plays video content, again from harddrive or external disc.
5) has an option to view media server, havent got one so not tried this.
6) Plays DVD and blueray discs.
So if you want to replace your existing dvd player, Id consider buying one of these as it does a whole lot more than play games - though the games Ive tried (Bad Company, Star Wars Force look great. Dont forget to Compare PS3 Prices.

PS3 Consoles is a term that can actually refer to five separate models. The PS3 or PlayStation3 as it is actually named, comes in five separate models.
There are some that are currently in production and some that are no longer in production. Each of the different models have some variations. Let us take a look at the five models and what each one offers or neglects to offer.
Models of PS3:
* 20GB Model of the PS3 Consoles This model is only available in Piano Black, it came equipped with 4 USB Ports, It first became available in November of 2006, and was PS2 compatible. This particular model did not have Wi-Fi or Flash card readers but did offer SACD support.
* 40GB Model of the PS3 is also no longer in production and is available in the following colors; Piano Black, Ceramic white, Satin Silver, and Gun Metal Gray. It came equipped with 2 USB ports and was first available in October of 2007. It did have a Wi-Fi capability but did not have a flash card reader or SACD support. It also was not compatible with the PS2.
* 60GB Model of the PS3 also is no longer in production. It was first available in November of 2006 and was only available in Piano Black. It had 4 USB Ports was Wi-Fi capable, has a Flash Card Reader, does come with SACD Support, and is compatible with the PS2.
* 80GB Model of the PS3 is still in production. It was first available in August of 2008. It is only available in Piano Black and has 2 USB Ports. It is Wi-Fi capable but does not have compatibility for the PS2, a Flash Card reader or SACD Support.
* 160GB Model of the PS3 is in production. It was first introduced in October 2008. It is available in Piano Black and has the standard 2 USB Ports. It does have Wi-Fi capabilities but does not offer compatibility with the PS2, a flash card reader or SACD support.
